Mount Washington

On June 16th, 2012, myself and a few other competitive athletes will trek to New Hampshire to take on the 7.6 mile "road race". The Quotes are there because this isn't any ordinary road race, this is a challenge to climb a mountain. The elevation change is over 5,000 feet! The race will be a 7.6 mile race, but running a mile into the sky!

The training for a race of this magnitude includes running a hell of a lot of miles as well as running some sort of hill workout once, if not twice, a week.

The race is not for "runners" of amateur status or for the faint of heart. This is a challenging race for ALL racers. The winning time is usually just under 1 hour... on a good day. The race has gained popularity in recent years-thus entries having to be limited to around 1,200 athletes. The entry is a lottery system with an acceptance rate of approximately 33% (1 in 3 entries). With that said, good luck to anyone who has been fortunate enough to be accepted into this race- you're going to need it.
